Time to Stand-Up for Comedy!

I've done comedy for years, making people laugh as a clown, and I've been standing-up even longer .. since I was about 1-2 years old. However, I've never had the courage to put those two skill into one.

Stand-Up Comedy. What an interesting concept. No costume, no makeup, no props... just a mic.
After about a month of writing material, and watching as many live shows around the city as possible, I've finally made my way onto the stage for the first time last week. My 2nd ever performance was at Absolute Comedy. A really nice place with good people, and great environment. I did pretty well.... I've been told. :)

As you can tell from the photo... the clown shirt stayed on... just in case.

I learned a lot of interesting things about stand-up. It's not as easy as it seems. Writing, and delivery, different styles, and joke structures.... interesting stuff!

Also, I was fortunate to have a lot of friends present, who chose to laugh at my jokes rather than throw vegetables at me like they usually do at home. So to my friends, you guys know who you are. Thank you. You made the experience a lot easier for me.

Going forward, as my adventure in stand-up continues, and I'm looking forward to mixing in some magic, and clowning too.

Upcoming Stand-Up open mics:
Friday, July 13th 2012 - No Name Comedy Bar
Friday, July 27th, 2012 - Passion (1220 Danforth)
more to come.... I'll post them as they come up...

Introducing Magic to my Skill Set :)

I've always loved to perform magic tricks, however, it was never at the level that I wanted it to be. There's nothing better than seeing a person's face transform because for that instant, something that is impossible, became possible!

After spending about a year practicing, learning, and watching lot of magic. I began to introduce these skills into my clown acts. I can't wait to learn more, and to perform more. My first opportunites came when I performed a This is London Nightclub, Manabar, Indigo Corporate Party, Kind Edward Hotel, and the Niagara Street Festival.

Here's a video created by WcW when we performed at This is London:
(not too much of my stuff there.. I think my face pops up there at the end!)
